Outraged viewers slammed the programme, hosted by Anna Richardson, over a “lack of morals” while others questioned why more male than female genitalia was shown. Later, bisexual masseuse Mal, had three men and three women to choose from.According to the Sun, in 48 minutes, not including commercials, the show flashed a total of 282 shots of penises and 96 vaginas. Her search triggered 100 shots of men’s intimate parts of 82 of women’s.But there’s really no avoiding the dispiriting conclusion that Channel 4’s latest reality show Naked Attraction, a nude and heavily sexualised version of Blind Date, the Saturday tea-time institution that dear old Cilla hosted for nearly 18 years, marks a spectacular new low for British television.
Sadly, we will never know what Cilla Black would have made of it.
Already this year we have been subjected to ITV2’s Love Island, in which one couple copulated in broad daylight while other contestants commented on their love-making technique. From every angle, but especially the one that allows participants to assess the sexual organs of their six would-be dates, Naked Attraction is utterly ghastly, and depressingly degrading.
The contestants then reject the dates one by one for purely physical reasons mainly attached to their genitalia.
The show sees six contestants bare all while standing in acrylic boxes, with their faces covered, as a fully-clothed hopeful picks a love interest based solely on their naked body.
Later in the show, which was watched by 1.3m intrigued people, faces are revealed and the dater strips off too. ” Paul Bassett Davies added: “Can’t decide whether to watch #Naked Attraction on C4 or drink a bottle of vodka, go to church in my pyjamas, and beg God to forgive us.” During the show there were 175 shots of penises as the first dater, music producer Ania, started her search before her privates were shown 11 times in quick succession.I use the word ‘attached’ advisedly; there is an awful lot of body-piercing on show.
