At system start-up, the contents of that directory is copied to the /dev directory with the same ownership and permissions as the files in /lib/udev/devices.The required device information is exported by the sysfs file system.I retweeted this over on twitter but I haven’t seen anything relating to it on tumblr so far so I just want to let everyone know that the profits of the brush packs sold by Kyle T Webster are 100% going towards the ACLU today. It is not absolutely necessary for the user to create rules.

The content of the /dev directory is kept on a temporary file system and all files are created from scratch at every system start-up.

For every device the kernel has detected and initialized, a directory with the device name is created.
