This early Stanley #1 smooth plane is in nice overall condition. It has the I frame below the frog making it a type 1 or 2.According to the type study, the only thing keeping it from being a type 1 is that the lever cap does not have a banjo spring. This body on this Stanley #1 smooth plane has been lapped and it has been refinished.
The throat has a tiny imperfection, like a 1/32 I have pictured.
A pretty nice example that could be further cleaned up to be at least fine and a highlight of any Stanley tool collection.
