Stop windows from updating automatically

Windows update will check for the driver updates and automatically install them. I am using a relative old pc, so I don't want the new version of the NVidia drivers, it disabled some feature that works well using the old driver.

I already set not install drivers from windows update follow the link: But still I can see the new drivers listed in windows update and check marked to be installed.

If you follow this tutorial, you can block Windows from automatically downloading and installing Drivers, using Control Panel, Windows Registry or Group Policy Editor.



You can if you wish, stop windows from installing the drivers automatically.

The methods below will disable the nagging reminders after Windows Update runs by stopping the associated service.

You might also be downloading a large file or letting a lengthy operation run while away from your PC, expecting it to be finished upon return.

Fortunately there are various workarounds available. Today we will mention a few that have been tested to work in XP, Vista and Windows 7 systems.


I hide the driver update at the moment, but I guess when a newer version comes, it will appear in the install list again.

Since I set my windows update as automatically installing, I don't want to see it suddenly install a newer version drivers in the future.
